Ukrainian Armed Forces fought off a militant offensive when 23 fighters of a reconnaissance unit advanced in the vicinity of Toretske, Donetsk region. The militants withdrew, leaving three heavily wounded fighters on the battlefield. Ukrainian soldiers captured the wounded – one of them was Natan Tsakirov, a 39-years-old Russian sniper, who died on the way to hospital, said Col. Andriy Lysenko, presidential administration spokesperson on the ATO-related issues.
Col. Lysenko added that actions of the two soldiers were instrumental to successful capture of the militants, namely the platoon commander, senior lieutenant with nom-de-guerre Did [Grandpa] and a private machine gunner with nom-de-guerre Grysha.
Ukrainian soldiers found a Russian passport and a military ticket from Natan Tsarikov who evidently came to fight in eastern Ukraine from the Russian city of Omsk.
