Russia Sent Former Commander Of DPR Militants To Syria

This was reported by the Main directorate of intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Reportedly, the position of “the head of the service of rocket-artillery armament of the 7th separate motorized brigade (Debaltseve) of the 2nd Army Corps (Luhansk) of the Armed Forces of FR” was occupied by Russian Major General Tihonov Sergiy Volodymyrovych, aka Stary, born in 20.11.1980 in the town of Tula, Russia.


Tihonov was sent to the temporarily occupied territories of eastern Ukraine in January, 2015.

Major General O. Zavizyon was the Commander of the 1st Army Corps (Donetsk) of the Armed Forces of RF in 2015.


After returning back to Russia, he was appointed as the Commander of 41st Army of the Central military district of the Armed Forces of RF. After this, he was sent to Syria as the Deputy Commander on the boundary zone security (Humaimam air base, Syria).

As earlier reported, the intelligence gave names of three more Russian officers commanding militants in Donbas.
