This was reported by the Main directorate of intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine (HUR).
In particular, Commander of the 1st Army Corps (Donetsk), Major General V. Asapov has prepared a report to the Commander of the Center of citizen military forces (Novocherkask, Russia) of the Southern military district (Rostov-on-Don), Colonel General of the Armed Forces of RF A. Serdyuk. The report outlines circumstance of death of the officer of the Armed Forces of RF Nikolayets Mykola Ivanovych.
According to the intelligence, Nikolayets was sent to the temporarily occupied territories of eastern Ukraine in summer of 2015 as a part of engineer-sapper battalion (about 350 soldiers) of 14th separate engineer brigade (Vatske village, Khabarovsk Krai) of the eastern military district (Khabarovsk) of the Armed Forces of RF.
In Ukrainian temporarily occupied territories, Nikolayets (aka Pyatakov) was appointed to the position of the Commander of an engineer service of the 5th separate motorized brigade (Donetsk, Ukraine) of the 1st Army Corps of Russian Armed Forces.
One of his duties was to lay mines, prohibited by international conventions, in industrial areas westwards from Donetsk (around the densely populated villages of Avdiivka, Yasynuvata, Nikishyno, Troitske), as well as in agricultural areas of the occupied part of Luhansk region.
HUR has made the report of Russian commanders concerning the fact of Nikolayets’s death public.
