As of April 10 due to the military conflict in the Donbas 1.2 million people were forced to relocate within Ukraine, reports United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
According to the map, published on the website of UNHCR, as of April 10, 2015, 1 million 213 thousand citizens of Ukraine were forced to change their place of residence. People mostly migrated from areas where fighting goes on, namely the Donetsk region – 438.2 thousand people moved from there. In Luhansk region 155.4 thousand people left their homes. Residents of the nearby regions, including Kharkiv (157.8 thousand) and Zaporizhia (85.6 thousand) are also changing their places of residence actively.
According to the report, the majority of internally displaced people are of retirement age.
The data does not include IDPs from the Russia-annexed Crimea and people who have gone abroad. According to the map about 777 thousand people moved from Ukraine, most of them – to Russia (637 thousand people).
For your interest, as of April 6, 2015 1.213 million 11 IDPs from the Donbas and the Crimea have been registered.
