This was stated in two resolutions supported by 236 and 239 MPs correspondingly.

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine calls on foreign Parliaments to “put to use all the mechanisms available on governmental, parliamentary and non-governmental levels and to give the Russian Federation to understand that extralegal executions and torturing of hostages in Donbas are unacceptable”.

Also, the Parliament calls on the world community to “continue to put pressure on the Russian Federation for violating the UN Status and the Budapest memorandum”. Ukrainian Parliament supports the position of the European Parliament concerning the necessity to launch an international negotiation mechanism in ‘Geneva Plus’ format with direct involvement of the EU institutions to restore Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied Crimea.

As Presidential Commissioner for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions Iryna Herashchenko previously stated, the Russian Federation can block the exchange of prisoners with the aim to use them for easing of sanctions imposed by the EU.
