According to the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Chief of General Staff – Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine immediately reported this to the President of Ukraine and informed the OSCE representatives, after which it was decided to deploy Ukrainian artillery on designated positions.
Through organized measures, determined and professional actions of the servicemen of 72th separate mechanized brigade the enemy was stopped and rebuffed to 2-3 kilometers.
Ukrainian units have captured key heights that had been previously controlled by terrorist groups.
The enemy suffered heavy losses both in manpower and in military equipment.
During the battle, seven Ukrainian soldiers were wounded.
Currently one can clearly see that the actions of terrorists are aimed on disruption of the Minsk agreements and escalation of the conflict, noted the Defense Ministry. This is evidenced, in particular, by the facts of intimidation of representatives of the ad hoc OSCE monitoring mission, namely protest rallies near the OSCE offices in Donetsk and Luhansk, and arson of the OSCE vehicles. These events occurred on the eve of terrorist attacks on the Ukrainian position.
As it was reported earlier, the President instructed to inform the representatives of the OSCE and Russia on the deterioration of the situation at Starohnativka.
