The Resolution has appointed local elections on Sunday, 25 October, 2015. At the same time, local elections in the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol are not scheduled. Similarly, local elections will not take place in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, being areas that are recognized as temporarily occupied under the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated 17 March, 2015 “On the specific regions, cities, towns and villages of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as temporarily occupied territories. ”
The resolution also states that date of the local elections of deputies in the temporarily occupied territories, not scheduled yet, will be defined in case of cessation of Russia’s occupation and military aggression against Ukraine.
237 of 325 MPs registered in the session hall voted in favour of this decision.
For your information, yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decided to submit to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine draft amendments to the Constitution on decentralization.
